primary health care program

Save South Sudan (SSS) has been working to improve access to primary health care services in South Sudan, including eye care and health education. SSS's primary health care programs, including eye care and health education, have contributed to improving the health and well-being of communities in South Sudan. The primary health care programs implemented by SSS have had a positive impact and have contributed to improved health outcomes, including reduced morbidity and mortality rates, increased access to primary health care services, including eye care, for vulnerable populations and have enhanced health knowledge and promoted healthy behaviors among communities.
Primary Health Care
  • Basic Health Services: SSS provides basic health services, including outpatient consultations, maternal and child health services, and treatment for common illnesses.
  • Maternal and Child Health: The organization focuses on improving maternal and child health outcomes through antenatal care, skilled delivery, and postnatal care.
  • Disease Prevention and Control: SSS implements disease prevention and control measures, including immunization programs, disease surveillance, and outbreak response.

  • Eye Clinics: SSS has established eye clinics in Nasir county, Upper Sile State and provided eye care services, including eye examinations, treatment, and surgery of which over 2000 operations were successfully conducted and the patients were able to recover their sights.
  • Cataract Surgeries: The organization has provided cataract surgeries, restoring sight to individuals affected by cataracts.
  • Eye Health Education: SSS promotes eye health education, raising awareness about eye health, and prevention of eye diseases.

  • Health Promotion: SSS promotes health education, focusing on prevention and control of diseases, including malaria, diarrhea, and respiratory infections.
  • Community-Based Health Education: The organization implements community-based health education programs, engaging with communities, and promoting healthy behaviors through awareness creation, health education sessions etc.
  • Training and Capacity Building: SSS provides training and capacity building for health workers, enhancing their skills and knowledge in primary health care.

Partners

SSS has partnered with donor agencies, such as WHO, UNICEF, SCF, CMA and USAID, to fund its primary health care programs.
